The Mercer Collection - Home Page

Rating : 4.0

The Mercer Collection properties are situated in Southsea, a delightful area of Portsmouth. Portsmouth hosts the Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays- a large outlet shopping area, museums, and children’s attractions, such as the Sea Life Centre and attractive gardens and walks. The first Boutique hotel in the group was Florence House Hotel, renovated and opened in 2005 with seven bedrooms. The first of its kind in the area, the hotel aimed to cater for guests looking for individual service, stylish design and comfortable rooms. In 2006 Somerset House Hotel opened, now with another 8 bedrooms, including a large Bridal Suite, perfect for special occasions. In 2009, a large bed and breakfast establishment came up for sale on the same street corner as the other properties. The property was opened in 2010 as Stattons Boutique Hotel with 12 rooms. The building had an airy and relaxing bar added and came with its own car park - rare for a central hotel in Portsmouth. Three short years later an 11 bedroom property came up for sale 10 minutes’ walk away from the current trio. Without hesitation it was added to the group. In 2012 the property was closed for extensive redesign and reopened in 2013 as Number Four Boutique Hotel. Later that same year two properties directly next door to Florence House became available and The Mercer Collection seized the opportunity to expand next door to the original hotel. The Florence Suite opened late 2013 and Florence Gardens in 2014 alongside a brand new A La Carte restaurant called The Kitchen Southsea. The Kitchen is currently unavailable. In early 2015 The Clarence Hotel was purchased following the retirement of the Owners. Eight beautiful bedrooms plus lounge and bar area impeccably presented completed the collection in Southsea.
